Our trip out here was thankfully uneventful. We left at three in the morning so that we could get here at a decent time. We have been having a good time with our friends. We have two families that we know really well that live here on the New Tribes Bible School campus, and we have been hanging out with them. We had a list of people that we wanted to see, but when we got here either people were gone or busy or other stuff...so we have been not doing too much, which is fine with us as well...
We did get a laptop, and that is a blessing. Our summer travels are now beginning and we were praying for a laptop that we could use for showing slides and presentations in churches, and we finally got one. My friend Jeff and I spent a few hours yesterday getting it ready and making sure everything works, and so I am now "breaking it in".
We have a prayer request to pass along...
Our friends Jared and Erin live here in Wisconsin and when we were here in Dec-Jan with Anarazell we spent a few nights with them. Well they have a little baby , Ruby, about a year old and they are worried about her.
Erin Writes:
Hi Everyone,
Please pray for little Ruby. She has had a fever on and off for the past month, so today the doctors did some tests. Her SED rate should be at 20 but her's was 28, which is a little above normal. But then a test to check her liver function was 4-5x higher than normal. The doctor said she will need to have a bone scan to check for kidney and bone infections as well as to rule out a tumor. Please pray that God would heal her little body and pray for us to trust in Him. The doctor is calling me back within the hour to set up the bone scan.
Thank you!
Love,
Erin
She wrote back a few hours later and said that the scan is set for Tuesday. They will go in at nine A.M. and get some dye in Ruby but the scan won't start until one in the afternoon...so it will be a long day for all of them.
So please pray for our friends and their daughter...scary times.
I'll update about them when I hear more.

Florida and Beyond
We have returned from Florida. We are trying to re-coup a bit because we are off again for Wisconsin starting Monday!
Florida was a very restful time for us. We had meetings for only two days, so for the rest of the time we just relaxed as a family.
We went to the zoo...swam in the pool...went to Daytona Beach and got crispy...pretty much just had a great vacation.
I am a time oriented person so it took a bit for me to get used to waking up when we wanted to, eating when we were hungry, doing whatever we wanted to, whenever we wanted to. But this was the first vacation that we have ever taken as a family where it was just us in one place for a week with nothing to do.
Usually vacations are so packed that they seem to go by so fast, and one needs to rest when they get home, but this time we didn't feel like that. We know that the next several months are going to be super-crazy and we were thankful to get a time to just laze around for a bit.
We had several meetings with the Communications Dept. that we have been praying about working with, and got some valuable insight and direction for our immediate future.
The decision is that while their need for writers is great and I have the talent that they are looking for, I lack the formal schooling that is needed to jump right in and start working. They have asked me to take a couple of semesters of college (one or two classes each semester). We are planning on using the next year or two to spend time with our churches and raise our necessary support, so we will see if I can take the classes at the same time.
Our plan (contingent on God's Plan...) is to head to Wisconsin for about ten days. After Anarazell there are so many people that we know up there that are like family now we want to see them one more time before we head out west for a few years.
Jen's sister and her husband are starting classes here in Missouri, Aug. 14th so we want to be here to help them unpack when they get here on the 9th.
On the 11th we will start our trip westward. We will travel the modified Oregon trail. We will start in Missouri and end up in Oregon, and we will take several months to do it, but we are going to visit family, friends and churches in 5 states along the way! More about that later.
So that is that for now...I will post pics of Florida later today or tomorrow...

Couple of Thoughts
Elijah
A couple weeks ago I posted a prayer request about a little boy Elijah with an update
here and
here and it sounds like he is doing a whole lot better.
He had an EEG and the neurologist said that his brain has "made some repairs". The Pediatrician said that they could be "cautiously optimistic" and used the word "miracle" to describe the progress he has made!
Praise the Lord!
They still aren't "out of the woods" yet. There is still a lot that they don't know about how much he will be effected, but it is amazing to see this couple looking ahead to a very uncertain future, and giving praise and glory to God, because they know that He is in control!
What a testimony! How can one go through something so emotionally, physically and even spiritually difficult and have a smile?
It must be that they are trusting in Someone bigger than them...And not just a "force" out there, but someone who they have a personal relationship with.
Florida
Well, we are flying to Florida Tuesday morning and will spend a few hours with the communication department that I hope to be working with. It sounds like it is a "getting to know you" type of interview which gets me excited because that makes it sound like they have already pretty much decided that they want me working for them!! But, I will not get too excited until after the meeting.
So I thought that they were going to meet with us for a few days, but they only need a few hours they said...So we are going to be in Florida for a week with not much to do. We are so excited! We have been packing like crazy here because we have to be out of our house before we leave, so we have two more days of packing ahead of us.
I will try to update once more before we go. I hope I can use a computer when we are in Florida to post pictures of us hanging out by the pool and beach and lake and ...
But while I am waiting for that here is a pic of Jen working in our crazy messy house.
